Greetings from Scotland! Travel blog post

We stepped out from the stuffy, germ laden air of the airplane, to the cool breeze of an artificially contrived breeze in Glasgow Airport. Our friend drove us through narrow cobble streets, wide stretches of tarmac motorway and seaside roads, delighting me with talk in his rich Scottish brogue.

A Scottish breakfast of porridge with strawberries, and hot tea awaited us at his home, nestled among the trees high on a hill, overlooking the sparkling bay sprinkled with sailboats.

Our hot, buttered toast was toasted between two metal screens set on the warm red Aga nearby. This innovative European stove/oven is left on all the time, providing a warm cozy kitchen to come home to after a busy morning of shopping for groceries at Tesco's. (Tesco's is a British supermarket)

We chatted in the sun room overlooking a green garden splendid with yellow poppies, a glazed ceramic birdbath, and hollycocks in pink and red hues. Relaxing in a comfy chair with a pillow saying 'Stressed is just dessert backwards!' embroidered on it, I watched the bees hum by on their little ways. The men were discussing Robert Burn's poetry, and other subjects such as gardening, travel stories and evangelical and doctrine matters. Just some friendly banter.
I showed my photography album to our host. He chose a photo of a pink rose to give his wife. She was not here this visit, she was caring for their grandchildren.

I took photos of the sun room and a curious walking stick propped against the wall- right by a pot of pink geraniums, if you know me, that just screams, ''picture time! picture time! don't miss this rare opportunity!'' So I got my camera and started snapping away....

45 and 1/8 minutes later....

....I fell asleep in my bedroom, under the white, fluffy goose down duvet. It was a brief but refreshing rest. Now after some lunch- thick Scottish bacon, on a fresh roll washed down with yet another steaming mug of tea. (Honestly, I can't get enough of the stuff!)

Signing off for now,
Elizabeth

Walking with Christ

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” John 6: 66-67 What does it mean to walk with Christ? I asked this question today. To walk means to move, to go from one physical place to another. Unless you are walking on a treadmill and then you literally go nowhere! To walk with someone else you have to keep up with their pace, whether they walk slower or faster than you. To walk with Christ we need to watch Him and match our stride with His. Not lagging behind, yet also not walking too far ahead of Him either. I know I tend to run ahead to the future in my thoughts and not always listen to what the Lord tells me in the His Word, the Bible. Who are some people who walked with God? Abraham is one who comes to mind. When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” Genesis 17:1 Abraham walked so closely with God ...

England Trip -March 2022- (Part 1)

Grandma and I.  I last saw her four years ago, too long!          Moss covered trees along the road in Dartmoor                 Sheep on Dartmoor                                       My Grandpa, John Frederick Charles Harvey. At age 9 or 10.              Hound Tor (Dartmoor)              Abbotskerswell, Devon, England. Widecombe in the Moor. Sunny one minute..... Clouds the next.....                    My Mum and my Uncle.

Alone

“And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”” John 8:29 (NKJV) “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?” Psalm 22:1 Jesus Christ was never left alone by His Father, except when He was on the cross. Why did His Father forsake Him when He most needed Him? Because of my sin. God cannot look on sin. Christ took on all my sins in His body and suffered agony, for me! I should have suffered for an eternity in hell, but because The Lamb of God was sacrificed for me, I am going to Heaven! I accepted His gift of salvation, confessed my sins and repented of them, when I was four years old. Hallelujah, what a Savior.
