Jesus Christ - and We

Jesus Christ- and We Christ has no hands but our hands ,   to do His work today; He has no feet but our feet   to lead men in His way; He has no tongue but  our tongues to tell men how He died, He has no help but our help   to bring them to His side. We are the only Bible,  the careless world will read; We are the sinners' gospel,  we are the scoffers' creed; We are the Lord's last message,  Written in deed and word- what if the line is crooked,  what if the type is blurred? What if our hands are busy,  with other work than His, What if our feet are walking,  where sin's allurement is? What if our tongues are speaking, of things His lips would spurn, How can we hope to help Him,  Unless from Him we learn? By Annie Johnson Flint  (1862-1932)    I was going through my old school folders and found this great poem. It is so true. We as Christians are to show the world how Christ would act and ta...

Pure Words

"The Words of the Lord are  PURE   words ,   Like  silver,  tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever." -Psalm 12:6-7  Outside the pottery studio  I read this verse last week and made a list of words that could be used to describe the words of the Lord. Some that came to my mind were these: untarnished, spotless, undefiled, unfailing,  perfect ,  magnificent, shimmering,  sparkling,  reflective, righteous,   up-lifting ,  instructive, whole, unhindered,  piercing to the quick,  wholesome, delightful,  convicting ,  beautiful, awe-inspiring,  encouraging,   c orrect, right,  unwavering , steadfast, indefatigable, inexhaustible, and  true. My sister and I are taking a pottery class right now. I took a few pictures at our l...

Happy June!

from:  https://www.facebook.com/abundantjoy I know it is not the first day of June, but it is still the beginning of the month. :-)  May was a wonderful, interesting month. Here is a recap of events:   We had our local Homeschool Convention in the beginning of May. I enjoyed volunteering for a few hours during that.  I started learning Turkish , (I am using Pimsleur's Basic Turkish program) It is exciting to be able to hear and say phrases and know what they mean, in another language! I am starting to think a bit in Turkish. My limited vocabulary hinders me here, but I am working on remedying that. I have finished several books on my reading list. I am currently reading: The Bible, "Turkey: What Everyone Needs to Know" By Andrew Finkel "An Unexpected Light" {Travels in Afghanistan} by Jason Elliot " Invisible Nation"   by Quil Lawrence { How the Kurds' Quest for Statehood Is Shaping Iraq and the Middle East} ...

Pray for the Peace of Israel

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.  "SHA-ALU SHALOM YIRUSHALAYIM". Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls,    Prosperity within your palaces. ” For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace  be  within you.”   Because of the house of the  Lord  our God I will seek your good. ~Psalm 122:6-9 (photo from:  http://www.testimoniesofheavenandhell.com/Christian-Wallpapers/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/American-And-Israel-Flag-HD-Wallpaper1.jpg There is a wonderful group called "Jews for Jesus." Eternity... are you ready?

Monday, May 28, 2012 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27 We were talking to a neighbour recently when he made the comment that he was going to be here forever and ever. He and others may wish it so, but that will not make it a reality. The truth is far from it. If there is one thing that is certain, it is that every day we live is a day nearer to when we will leave this earth and pass into eternity. Are you ready to meet God, if that day is today? —J. Fleming [From the Choice Gleanings calendar] I am walking home to heaven, Jesus is the only way, Through His cross I found forgiveness And I’ll see His face one day. —J. Fleming

One day at a time

One day at a time by Bill MacDonald "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things; But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Luke 10:41-42. Mary sat quietly at Jesus' feet and heard His word. Martha was flustered and upset in her service, and resented the fact that Mary didn't pitch in to help. The Lord Jesus didn't correct Martha for her service but for the spirit in which she was doing it. Also there is a suggestion that Martha' priorities were wrong; she shouldn't have put service above worship. Many of us are like Martha. We are achievers, who would rather be doing than sitting. We pride ourselves on being organized, efficient, able to accomplish. We are so preoccupied with our work that our morning Bible reading is often interrupted by the memory of sixty things that have to be done. Our prayers tend to be helter-skelter because our mind wanders from Dan to Beersh...
