Accepted in the Beloved

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has  blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ , just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we hav e redemption through His blood , the forgiveness of sins , according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.  In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being prede...

Is the Lord YOUR God?

So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” 1 Kings 17:12 "The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah." 1 Kings 17:16 Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth.” 1 Kings 17:24  The widow in Zarephath referred to "the Lord YOUR God" meaning that He was Elijah's God and not hers. She believed He existed, but she did not know Him herself. Happily, after a period of time, she believed in the Lord for herself. Do you know the Lord yourself, or is He just others' God? He does not want you to remain a stranger. He longs to be YOUR God. Will you let Him?  "Be...

The Lord is the strength of my life

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 I  tend to think too much about what other people think of me. I can also dwell too much on past events and become fearful and anxious. This verse really encouraged me yesterday. There is no one I need to fear or be afraid of. The Lord is the strength of my life. He is powerful over all mankind and is ready to protect me. He is also with me even if I do not “feel” that He is there. His Word is so comforting and rich, if I just take the time to meditate on it. What truth has the Lord been teaching you this week? If you do not know Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior, please consider His offer of salvation. He is the only One who truly understands us and can save us from our sins. Any good deeds or works will not guarantee entry to Heaven. Jesus Christ shed His blood to pay the price that your sin requires. Trust in H...

When all is said and done....

....More is said than done. It's true isn't it? Words are cheap. We make resolutions that don't survive the week. Some claim to live by the Ten Commandments or by the Golden Rule. How do we do? The first commandment demands that we love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. Has there been one month of your life when you did? One week? One day? The second command requires that we love our neighbor as ourselves. If you're in a group photo, whose face do you look for first? If, heading home, you hear a fire truck racing into your area, do you think, "I hope it's not my neighbor's"? Isn't it amazing that men still see themselves as basically good? In spite of world wars, concentration camps, Viet Nam, sixty-six million Russians exterminated, the slaughter under Mao-just in this century! Mankind's history is written in blood and tears: "The hearts ...

The tree of life

The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:8-9  “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the  First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. Revelation 22:12-15 In the beginning of the Word of God there is the tree of life, on earth. At the end of the Word of God, there is the tree of life, this time in heaven.

In heavenly love abiding

This January, I saw the first two lines of this hymn engraved on a tombstone in Newton Abbot, Devon, England. I had first discovered the hymn a few years ago, but had forgotten about it. Cemeteries are serious places, my maternal Grandpa is buried in this certain cemetery. I am looking forward to meeting him for the first time when I reach Heaven! Most of all, I cannot wait for the moment I will see my Saviour's face for the first time. I do not deserve to even look into His  eyes or be in His presence, yet He loves me and fights and intercedes daily for me. He walked on this earth, and knows what we experience. His grace is sufficient for me. He has put my sin away as far as the east is from the west, He chooses to not remember it. He paid the terrible price for my sin, so I can go free. He gives me peace and joy.  Do you know my Lord Jesus Christ? If you do not know Him as your Saviour and Lord, please change your "relationship status" as soon as possible. Man is ...
