Pure Words

"The Words of the Lord are PURE words, Like silver, tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever."

-Psalm 12:6-7

Outside the pottery studio
I read this verse last week and made a list of words that could be used to describe the words of the Lord. Some that came to my mind were these: untarnished, spotless, undefiled, unfailing, perfect, magnificent, shimmering, sparkling, reflective, righteous,  up-lifting, instructive, whole, unhindered, piercing to the quick, wholesome, delightful, convicting, beautiful, awe-inspiring, encouraging, correct, right, unwavering, steadfast, indefatigable, inexhaustible, and true.

My sister and I are taking a pottery class right now. I took a few pictures at our last lesson. It is so much fun to make something from scratch, from the raw clay into a beautiful pot, bowl or vase.

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy
meditate on these        things."

-Philippians 4:8

Happy June!

I know it is not the first day of June, but it is still the beginning of the month. :-) May was a wonderful, interesting month. Here is a recap of events:

We had our local Homeschool Convention in the beginning of May. I enjoyed volunteering for a few hours during that.

I started learning Turkish, (I am using Pimsleur's Basic Turkish program) It is exciting to be able to hear and say phrases and know what they mean, in another language! I am starting to think a bit in Turkish. My limited vocabulary hinders me here, but I am working on remedying that.

I have finished several books on my reading list. I am currently reading:
The Bible,

"Turkey: What Everyone Needs to Know" By Andrew Finkel

"An Unexpected Light" {Travels in Afghanistan} by Jason Elliot

"Invisible Nation" by Quil Lawrence
{How the Kurds' Quest for Statehood Is Shaping Iraq and the Middle East}

"The God Who Is There" by Francis A. Schaeffer

and "Private Peaceful" by Michael Morpurgo. (He also wrote the book "War Horse.") We watched War Horse the movie a few weeks ago. Now I am learning, "Remembering Emilie and Finale" (one of the movie soundtracks) on the piano.

I also have been playing recently:
"I've found a Friend", by James G. Small, 1817-1888 (#416 in "Hymns of Truth and Praise")
"Blessed Quietness" by Manie P. Ferguson, 19th Century (#212)
and "I hear the Words of Love", (#99) by Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889

I thought I'd share these beautiful scripture verses and quotes with you.
They are from, Encouragement through Biblical Words: or:

We had two different families come through, and stay for a night in the last week. I enjoyed the fellowship, Bible times and hymn sings we enjoyed with them.  Being hospitable is so rewarding!  On Wednesdays, we have started going to some friends' home for a Bible study. There is now a total of 5 families! We each bring something to a potluck supper, and then have a Bible study afterwards.

Have a blessed week!
